The Janey doll is fun and simple to make! Janey is stitched entirely by hand, using a whip stitch around the felt edges, French knots for the cheek dots, stem stitch for the mouth, and blanket stitch for the rick-rack on the dress. Only four pattern shapes are used to make the doll and two for the dress. The doll head-body-arms-legs are all together in one pattern shape – they are not attached separately which can be time consuming and difficult. The finished doll is 6 1/2” tall x 4 1/2” across. Janey is made from scraps of wool felt (acrylic felt can be used but wool or wool blend will be more durable). Enlarge or reduce diagrams/patterns to make Janey different sizes. Safety eyes are used for sample dolls – other options for the eyes are to make them using embroidery, paint or felt.
This seven page PDF e-pattern includes full size patterns to make Janey with two hairstyles and two dress styles; a materials list; detailed instructions written in English; and clear step-by-step photos.
