The Kaleidoscope Fantasy Hexagon Block 3 is the first hexagon block of our "Block A Week" embroidery-quilting project. There are 8 hexagon blocks to collect that make up the Kaleidoscope Fantasy Quilt. A few extra panels will be stitched out to finish off the sides of the quilt. Once the quilt upper is completed and joined together, the quilt is then finished off. This will only be done once the quilt upper is put together and the borders are added. Joining of the hexagon panels and completion of the quilt is done on a sewing machine.
This block is made up of 6 equilateral triangles. You will need to stitch out 6 of the Block 3 patterns to make up this hexagon block.
The panels are done using applique and have embroidered accents. The applique cover stitch used is the feather cover stitch. This gives a soft finish and is easy to quilt over should you wish to quilt it. When cutting the applique fabric, use sharp scissors so you will have a neatly cut fabric edge.
Once all 6 panels of the block is embroidered out, the panels are then joined together with a sewing machine.
Each hexagon block can be layed out in 3 ways. This gives you various options to make 3 different hexagon blocks from this design! This is one of the unique aspects of a kaleidoscope block. Choosing your layout for the hexagon block is so much fun and it makes each quilt unique.
NOTE The applique pattern on the panel is a random pattern and it isn't meant to create a continuous design nor is it to match on the seams. It is designed this way to create a kaleidoscope pattern. This gives the block it's own unique effect.
This block comes in 3 sizes, 5x5, 6x6 and 7x7.
The completed size of the quilt is:
5x5 design: 21.32 inches x 44 inches
6x6 design: 24.78 inches x 52 inches
7x7 design: 28.24 inches x 60 inches
