Traditional Christmas Fabric Boxes - 3 Sizes

Making these Traditional Christmas Fabric Boxes is simple and easy. Each pieces is made and lined entirely in the hoop.
The trim is added to the panel using the “sew n flip” technique. The striped pattern is then embroidered onto the trim to give it that delightful striped effect. The white section of the box panel is embroidered with snowflakes, finishing the Christmas theme of the box. The base of the box is also embroidered with a snowflake.
The Christmas ornaments that decorate the boxes are made in the hoop. The tartan fabric is appliqued onto the ornaments. A feather cover stitch is used for the raw edges. This stitch was used specifically to give it a more traditional and homemade feel. If you use a loose weave fabric, you might have a few stray threads poking through. Fleece is used to back the ornaments. I preferred to use the fleece as it has a natural stretch and makes turning the ornaments easier. The hanging loops are added after the ornaments are completed. These ornaments can also be used to decorate a Christmas wreath or a Christmas Tree.
To finish off the boxes, a craft peg is used to attach the ornaments to the boxes.
Some hand sewing is required to finish this project. Although, you could use fabric glue or a zig-zag stitch on your sewing machine instead. The choice is yours.
