During the years of Gould's visit from 1838 to 1840 large numbers bred in the holes of eucalyptus trees. Young were captured and taken to Sydney for transport to England where they were a popular cage bird. In Australia they were a very tame bird that could be seen in farmyards and coming around the door to receive food in company with the pigeons and poultry. Fits the 6x10 hoop.
